Hebron man arrested following child porn investigation

James McReynolds, a 33-year-old Hebron resident, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the Boone County Sheriff‘s Office into the distribution of child porn, according to a press release from the sheriff.

“The Boone County Sheriff’s Office initiated the investigation into an IP address found to be connected to the sharing of numerous files that were known to contain child sexual abuse material,” the press release reads. “The IP address was ultimately found to be registered to McReynolds’ home address.”

The sheriff’s office obtained a search warrant, and then the office’s cyber crime investigation unit along with a specially trained electronics detection dog searched McReynold’s house early Tuesday morning.

“During an interview, McReynolds admitted to detectives that he used torrent software to download and view files, which contained media files of juveniles engaged in various sexual acts,” according to the press release. “He also admitted to sharing those same videos.”

McReynolds was charged with 60 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under 12.

McReynolds was arrested on similar charges in 2013, according to court records, for which he paid a $1,000 fine and was sentenced to five years of supervised probation.
