Independence City Council approves new trailer storage regulations

The Independence City Council voted in a 5 to 1 vote at their meeting Monday night to institute a new ordinance regulating the storage of trailers in the city. Council Member Greg Steffen cast the only vote against the ordinance.

The new regulations have been in the works for over a year, and have gone back and forth between the city council and the Kenton County Planning Commission multiple times.

The new regulations establish weight and height limits for trailers and other hauled vehicles, 18,000 pounds and 39 feet, respectively. The new ordinance also extends the amount of time someone can park their trailer from 72 to 96 hours.
